When you have chosen the tour you wish to book, hit Book Now. You'll be able to select your dates, enter your passenger numbers, and choose from options and extras at the next stage before finalising your provisional booking by paying a deposit.

How the Booking Process Works

Get a quotation: We will tailor make an itinerary & quotation.

  1. Provisional booking: Once a 20% deposit is paid we'll get to work securing your tour arrangements. This normally takes up to 5 working days.
  2. Confirmed booking: Once we have confirmed your booking, you can make your travel arrangements, and begin the countdown! In the unlikely event that we cannot confirm your booking (usually due to accommodation availability issues), you would of course be refunded in full.
  3. Travel: We've taken care of everything, so you can just relax, take on your trail, and most importantly have fun. We're here for any support you may need.
  4. Share: Enter our #MacsMoment contest, plus we will send you a link on your return to let you review your trip online.

Our process is designed to enable most of our holidays to be tailor made on a request basis. This gives you ultimate flexibility to start and finish on any date you like, or add extra nights. Usually we have no problems confirming adventures, but the further in advance you can book, it's always better.

Booking Your Travel

We would always ask that after you make a provisional booking online or with our representatives, you wait until you receive your final confirmation email before booking any travel arrangements (such as flights).

We'll get a confirmation to you within 5 working days (but often much quicker). It can take a little longer for us to confirm trips over 13 days, or if your booking is very far in advance, but we'll always keep you informed, and in the vast majority of cases it will usually it will just take a few days. If you have any questions or need an update on your booking, don't hesitate to contact us.

    On this occasion & unusually for Mac, the booking lines of communication were extremely poor (‘radio silence For days’). This meant that the holiday itself was compromised by the late decisions. Another group with the same itinerary experienced the same issue. Issue of a hard copy itinerary is essential & should have been arranged. I’ve assumed that the problems were a consequence of the lockdown situation, furloughed staff etc

    They were very helpful, recommending different options to suit me. Also no problem when I then changes the date and added two friends to the trip! All the accommodation and bag transfers worked seamlessly and the App was brilliant with the downloaded maps just to check location. I will definitely use them again. This is not a luxury tour company, but they do sort everything out for walkers.

    Excellent planning despite having to cancel and reschedule our original holiday due to Covid-19 restrictions. Baggage transfers and hotel/b&b arrangements were excellent. The Thames Path book which was provided gave us detailed guidence and was especially useful when coming across stretches of the walk where the official signage was missing or difficult to find. We would certainly use Macs Adventures again, and we're looking to book the next part of the walk when the Covid-19 situation is more settled. A big thank you to Macs Adventures

    1 Manage expectations- the booking process was very poor. I was told they would confirm within 5 days. Took about 1 month 2 One hotel in particular was very poor - dirty room, no WiFi, dated and frayed carpets and fittings. We actually booked into an alternative. 3 Whilst on the actual holiday Macs emailed me with a change- but instead of telling me what the change was they referred me to my account which does not render properly on my Android phone. I don’t take my laptop on holiday. So I won’t be using Macs again.

    Friendly and helpful service from the team, at a time of immense difficulty in arranging trips due to Covid situation. An excellent walk and mostly good accommodation booked on our behalf (a party of three wanting three single rooms. However, overbooking at one venue (the Border Hotel in Kirk Yetholm) meant that while already en route we had a scramble to find alternative acceptable accommodation - which in the end, with Macs assistance, we did. We suspect the overbooking was the hotel’s fault - and indeed were not impressed with the Border Hotel’s accommodation and management arrangements generally. The only other comment we would make is that the Covid hygiene protocols and practice varied hugely between accommodations - from the clinical to the virtually non-existent - which is rather worrying for the future. Otherwise, we much enjoyed the walk......

    We have used Macs Adventure for a number of walking holidays over the years and have always found the service excellent. The accommodation they select is always of a high standard and everything is arranged so the holiday runs smoothly. When things go wrong, as they can do, Macs sort everything out for you so you don't have to worry about anything.

    Always polite on the phone especially Lauren from the USA and Sally from Cheshire. However, due to the current situation re COVID, there were several problems relating to our trip which Macs Adventures probably didn't realise soon enough. The Windermere ferries do not take bikes at present and neither does the steam train. We even spoke to the train driver to find a way on! The ride back was probably better than taking the train anyway. Luckily we had our own bikes and car but this particular holiday would not have worked with anyone having to hire bikes. The routes were enjoyable and not too difficult. Accommodation at the Fir Trees B&B was very comfortable with a lock-up garage for the bikes. We had to ask for the OS map to be sent to us more than once which was a shame as we wanted to look closely at the routes before setting off to Windermere. Sally came to our rescue and arranged for the map to be sent out asap.

    They responded well to the COVID cancellation and arranged a rebooking. Service could be improved by providing hard copy route maps and guidance rather than relying on the web site

    The customer service team was very helpful with planning and quickly responsive throughout the trip whenever we reached out with questions. I feel everything was done to the best of their abilities considering the COVID 19 situation. Downloading the app and maps proved critical for some of the walks as trails are not clearly marked. The app is very good. Most of the walks were exceptional, but the walk from Sligichan to Portree was mostly road walking. An improvement could have been to have transportation from Sligichan to Portree and picked up the walk from Storr to Quiraing (and then possibly to Flodigarry) to make it a little more enjoyable. Overall, great service and value and would use Macs Adventures again without question.

    Agonised between 4 & 5 stars. All excellent and would certainly recommend. Mac rep at the end of the 'phone at all times which was v reassuring. Only one minor glitch with pickup at Kingshouse Hotel as slight confusion with Glencoe Ski Centre. Sorted with a few 'phone calls but led to slight delay. The instructions in route notes WERE a little confusing so suggest that Macs review this. Excellent trip - partly marred by weather - but that made it interesting - and I was impressed that Macs sent email checking all ok on the day of storm Francis!!!!

    Customer service good, though took a while to get everything sorted - I was having to chase the week before we went away. They happily organised a change to the route to cut down the length of a long day. Accommodation they booked was mostly good, some of the places not so great but it was a bank holiday week so probably hard to secure the best places.

    Generally this holiday went really smoothly. Macs organisation is so good that the accommodation providers were all expecting me and the luggage transfers just 'happened' as if by magic. I met people on the walk who had organised it themselves, and who had issues. By the end of the week they agreed with me that putting the organisation in the hands of a company like Macs would have been a far better thing to do. Also most of my accommodation providers went out of their way to say how good their relationship with Macs was. As this holiday was in conjunction with a separate booking with Macs to do the West Highland Way, Macs (Cara) rang me to go over the details, I did not expect personal service like that, much better than some anonymous web site ! The booking was completed in good time. One minor issue during the holiday (when the luggage transfer agent did not pick up my bags on the first day) was resolved quickly by a phone call to Macs (Sarah)

    We booked our trip shortly before we set off. Everything was organised very quickly and we managed to do the trip without a hitch. Everywhere we stayed during the walk was great and the people who ran the various bed and breakfasts where enormously helpful even drying out our wet clothes. Lastly, the app was great for navigating the walk.

    Brilliant organisation and always responded promptly. There was more than enough map guidance provided through the app and guidebooks. When I was forced to finish my trip early Rhona (my Macs agent) took care of cancelling accommodation and transfers with ease.
