The Cotswold Way is one of our most popular walking holidays in England and rightly so!  With magnificent landscapes, beautiful Cotswold villages and the city of Bath all on one walk it offers a real taste of England.  The Cotswold Way is an outstanding walking holiday.

One of the most common questions that we get asked is ‘How do I get there?’ so here’s the answer!

BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT: Is the closest airport to the start of the Cotswold Way and has flights from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Jersey, Isle of Man, Inverness, Dundee, Derry, Belfast, Dublin, Shannon and many European and international destinations. For information on airlines and transport to and from the airport please visit http://www.birminghamairport.co.uk/

The scenery is definitely worth all the travelling!

BRISTOL AIRPORT: Bristol Airport has flights from throughout the UK and Europe (mainly low cost and charter airlines) and is about 5hrs by public transport from Chipping Campden as it involves at least 3 changes. Details of airlines and facilities are available here: www.bristolairport.co.uk

LONDON AIRPORTS: London Heathrow and Gatwick are probably the best options for those travelling from outside the UK. From the airport travel to London Marylebone where trains leave regularly to Stratford-upon-Avon (11 miles from Chipping Campden) or there are hourly trains from London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh (6 miles from Chipping Campden).  From either of these towns you would then have to take a taxi to Chipping Campden.

RAIL/BUS: From London Paddington you can catch the train to Moreton-in-Marsh (1hr 45mins) and then a taxi the last 6 miles to Chipping Campden or there are also regular trains from London Marylebone to Stratford-upon-Avon (2hrs 20mins) again you would have to take a taxi the final 11 miles to Chipping Campden. There are also regular trains from Birmingham to Stratford-upon-Avon (1hr).

From Bath you can get back to Birmingham by rail (via Bristol) in 2hrs 30mins. There are trains every half hour during the day from Bath to London Paddington.

National Express buses serve Cheltenham and Evesham, 20 miles and 11 miles respectively from Chipping Campden and Bath at the end of the walk.

CAR: Chipping Campden is a 2 hour drive from London. There is unsecured on street parking available in the outlying residential areas of Chipping Campden but no long stay car parks. To return to your car from Bath, catch the train back to Moreton-in-Marsh or Stratford-upon-Avon (3hrs 30mins and at least 2 connections).

Journeys by public transport can be planned online at www.traveline.com . It is better to book train travel in advance as this is substantially cheaper and you can do so at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ or on the relevant train operator website. Local bus tickets are normally purchased on boarding the bus.

We have done our best to give you the most recent information about getting to the start of the Cotswold Way, but timetables are subject to changes, sometimes without notice. Please check the local timetables upon arrival, or use the Internet.

Train and bus timetables are normally released three months ahead so please recheck all planned travel arrangements a few weeks before your departure date.

I was well and truly bitten by the travel bug when at 15 I saved up the pennies from my Saturday job and booked a flight to Florida to visit family. After that trip a career in travel was definitely on the cards! After going to University in Edinburgh I decided that I needed a break and signed up to be a holiday rep for 6 months on the Greek Island of Kos. I only ever intended to do one season but 6 months soon turned into 7 years and 8 countries. I was lucky enough to work and live in many fantastic places such as Italy, Croatia, Egypt and the Dominican Republic. This was a great way to live like the locals and really get to experience different cultures but the pull home proved too much in the end and I unpacked my (very large) suitcase for the last time in 2008. Since then I moved back to the UK and worked in the head office for a large tour operator near London before deciding that There is no place like home and coming back to Scotland to work for Macs Adventure. After travelling to so many different place I truly believe that Scotland has just as much to offer than anywhere in the world (even the weather is part of the charm!)
