Top 5 Cornwall highlights

Hi! I’m Susan and have been a member of the Macs team since September 2014, I’m in the UK team and one of our favourite walks is The South west coast path. I jumped at the chance to get down there and check it out for myself, having never been to that part of the country. I was there for a week and the end of May/start of June and here are some of my many highlights!

Scenery

It goes without saying the coastal scenery on this section on the swcp is out of this world. It really is the best bits of England all rolled into one walk, the cliffs with the crashing Atlantic ocean, the beaches and the rolling green hills with flowers and wildlife

Food and drink

....More than just fish and chips! Cornwall is a real foodie haven. Apart from the obvious seafood favourite of fish and chips it offers a wealth of amazing food and drink to suit everyone’s tastes. From gastro pubs to traditional tea shops selling afternoon tea this part of the country really does have something for everyone. Personal favourite of mine was the rattler cloudy cider – just delicious after a long days walk! Fish fans should head to Padstow where rick stein has a number of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes.

People

Friendly and welcoming. It’s a well-known fact the people in this part of the world are some of the nicest you will meet and this was more than true.

Beaches

Stunning beaches and surf. Cornwall boasts some of the best surfing beaches in the UK. With Newquay being the surfing capital of the county, whether you fancy a lesson or prefer to watch from the glorious white sandy beaches there is something for all beach lovers in this part of the country.

The South West Coast Path Itself

The South West Coast Path has won many awards for being the best walk in the UK and it’s easy to see why! Some 630 miles of glorious coastal walking, this walk can be broken down depending on your time frame from an afternoon to a longer holiday there is something for everyone. Although tough and challenging in some sections there are sections to suit all ages and abilities, its well way marked and is a spectacular walk. I would highly recommended the South West Coast Path for anyone looking for a great walk, great beaches, great food, and life long memories. You can view the various itineraries along sections (or indeed all!) of the South West Coast Path on our website. Contact myself or the team on info@macsadventure.com for more information.
