The alpine town of Zermatt sits at an altitude of 1,600 metres in the shadow of the Matterhorn. Zermatt is known as a premium skiing resort however between July and September there is a real buzz on the 400km of hiking trails as walkers take in views of the majestic peaks.
With 38 peaks over 4,000 metres, untouched nature and plentiful wildlife, the area around Zermatt and the Matterhorn is fantastic for walking.
