What "In Style" actually means
When we say a holiday is "In Style," we're talking about Macs Adventure's version of luxury adventure travel - where comfort and quality are at the forefront, without the trip losing its spirit of adventure.
Many of the world's finest walking and cycling routes pass through remote or rural areas, where accommodation options are genuinely limited. That's why our In Style holidays may include a range of stay types depending on the destination. What every one of them shares is this: we've chosen them personally, for their comfort, their character, and the welcome they offer.
In many cases, these are truly elevated stays - boutique hotels with views across mountain ranges, wine-producing estates with cellars you're welcome to explore, coastal manor houses where the breakfast alone justifies the journey. Where the options are truly spectacular, we make the most of them. Where the trail runs through wilder country, we find the best that's genuinely there, and it's usually rather good.
Where you sleep shapes the whole trip. We take that seriously.

Luxury Walking Holidays - Is It Right for You?
Our luxury walking holidays suit anyone who loves being on their feet and values a proper rest at the end of it. You don't need to be an experienced long-distance walker - many of our In Style routes are graded easy to moderate. What you do need is a taste for good food, good accommodation, and genuinely memorable scenery. Solo travellers, couples, and small groups all love them.

Luxury Cycling Holidays - What to Expect
Our In Style cycling holidays cover some of Europe's finest cycling terrain - Loire Valley châteaux, Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way - at a pace that lets you actually take it in. Routes are graded for all abilities, not just strong cyclists. E-bikes are available on selected routes. Your luggage travels ahead, so your panniers stay light. Just bring a good appetite.

When Is the Best Time to Go?
Spring and early autumn are our most popular seasons for luxury walking and cycling holidays in Europe - warmer weather, quieter trails, and lower accommodation prices than peak summer. May and June bring wildflowers across Burgundy and Provence. September in Chianti means the harvest is on and the vineyards are extraordinary. UK routes - Cornwall, the Lake District, the Cotswolds - work well from April through October.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in a luxury adventure holiday with Macs Adventure?
Every In Style holiday includes pre-booked accommodation in hand-picked hotels and inns, daily luggage transfers between stays, detailed route notes and maps loaded into our app, a 24/7 support line, and all the planning so you don't have to think about it. Flights and travel to the start point aren't included. How fit do I need to be for a luxury walking holiday?
It varies by route, but most of our In Style holidays are graded easy to moderate - designed for active people who enjoy walking, not competitive athletes. Daily distances range from around 12 to 20km (7.5 - 12.5 miles), with the option to shorten days on many routes. If you're comfortable with a half-day walk, you'll be absolutely fine. Can I travel solo on an In Style holiday?
Absolutely. Solo travel is very popular across our In Style range. You'll travel independently, with all logistics handled, and you'll typically find the accommodation hosts and fellow travellers at dinner in the evenings a real bonus. What's the difference between a standard Macs holiday and an In Style one?
On a standard Macs holiday, we book the best locally-run B&Bs, guesthouses, and small hotels we can find on your route. On an In Style holiday, we specifically select properties that offer a higher level of comfort, facilities, and character - boutique hotels, wine estate stays, and country house inns. Only the best sections of the trail and superior stays waiting for you at the end.Are luxury cycling holidays suitable for non-expert cyclists?
Yes. Our In Style cycling holidays are designed for people who enjoy cycling, not racing cyclists. The routes are mapped, distances are manageable, and e-bike options are available on many routes. The Loire Valley In Style, for example, follows the EuroVelo 6 - one of Europe's flattest and most scenic cycle routes.
