Grade & Terrain
This cycle tour is graded easy. The route is flat, on paved tracks and is traffic-free, making it ideal for families. It is the law in Austria for children aged 12 yrs and under to wear helmets. Cycle tracks are clearly marked throughout the trip.
Accommodation Information
Our Danube Family Cycling Adventure includes accommodation in comfortable, family-run, 3*-4* hotels and inns. The accommodations have been carefully selected for their warmth of welcome and character. Family prices are based on two full paying adults sharing with up to 2 children. It is also possible to accommodate one full paying adult sharing with a child. There is also the possibility of children having their own room. We work with a number of accommodations along the cycle path, so all distances are an approximation of the recommended routes. You may be accommodated up to 5km away in the surrounding area.

When To Go
This tour is available to start on any day of the week from the beginning of May to mid-October. Please note that if you have children who wish to cycle, then we suggest a minimum age of 8-10 years depending on their level of confidence.
Getting to the Start
Linz is located in Austria, close to the German border. It has a railway station and is easily accessible.
By Air:
Linz is closest to Linz Airport (airport shuttle bus to the town center is approx. 20 mins).
Alternatively, fly into Salzburg then take a bus from the airport to the central train station (20-40 mins) then a train to Linz (1h15). If you fly into Vienna then you need to take a bus from the airport to the train station (45 mins), then a train to Linz (1h30). If you choose to fly into Munich, then take the shuttle to the main train station, from there you can take a train to Linz (3hrs).

By Car
Parking is available in Linz from between €36 and €50 per week.
Getting from the End
We include a train transfer back from Vienna to Linz in your tour but you may prefer to fly out of Vienna Airport.
Baggage Transfer
Daily door to door baggage transfer is included in the price of your trip. We ask you to keep your baggage to a maximum of 1 bag per person (maximum weight 20kg).
Equipment
Rental Bikes: 7-speed bikes with coaster brake (backpedal) or 21-speed bikes (unisex) are available to rent, these are not included in the tour package but can be booked as an extra. Electric bikes (unisex), children’s bikes, and other specialized equipment may be available upon request. All rental bikes are equipped with a pannier (saddle bag) and an odometer (except for the electric bikes). Helmets are not included as part of the rental package, but can be bought locally (€29). Please remember that your own helmet is likely to be a better fit. If you’d like to hire a bike, please let us know your height and frame size you currently ride. If you would prefer to bring your own bicycle please ensure it is thoroughly serviced and is an appropriate bike for this trip.

It is a condition of booking with Macs Adventure that you have suitable travel insurance that covers you for cancellation, curtailment, illness or injury.
