6 Things you should do in and around Courmayeur

What’s not to love about Courmayeur? I have just returned from my Tour du Mont Blanc trip (Highlights in Comfort) and I would like to share some great ways to discover Courmayeur!

1) Ride the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car

Why don’t you grab lunch with a view? Pavillon du Mont Frety offers a panoramic view of Val Veny and Val Ferret. Make sure you also go to the main attraction: Punta Helbronner, this is the highest point and offers a unique 360 degree view over the highest peaks of the Western Alps.

2) Relax at the spa

What could be more relaxing after hiking up to the Aosta Valley? Imagine relaxing in hot thermal waters in an outdoor spa while overlooking the Mont Blanc. Put on a fresh bathrobe, step into your flip-flops and enjoy the many facilities that Terme di Pre-Saint-Didier has to offer…

3) Keep calm and eat Italian!

The Aosta Valley combines some of the best traditional Italian food with some added ingredients and mountain flavours. One of our personal favourites is Pizzeria Du Tunnel which is the oldest pizzeria in Courmayeur, the restaurant is equipped with wood-fired ovens. Caffe Centro and Café Relais de l’Ange are great local bars that offer reasonably priced drinks.

4) Discover sister town Dolonne

The village of Dolonne is only about a 800 meters away and connected to Courmayeur by a bridge. It’s a very charming village, at the heart it’s crowded with stone houses displaying flowers at their windows and balconies. The buildings are very old and the streets are narrow. The views you get from this village are incredible and the local people are friendly.

5) Explore the Aosta Valley by bike!

Biking around the valley is a great way to discover the history and culture of the area. Cycle through breath-taking landscapes, small mountain villages, traditional vineyards and castles. There are routes to suit all biking enthusiasts!

6) Buy presents in style!

As stated by Vogue Italy, contrary to the expectations you might have of a mountain village, Courmayeur is a real gem. The charming village combines tradition and modernity. As well as luxury Italian stores you can discover finely chosen fragrances in Bazaar Des Senteurs.
