My Favourite Pub & Tea Room along the Hadrian’s Wall Path!

As I grew up in the Hadrian’s Wall region I thought it best to share my personal knowledge of the best places to stop for a drink or some tasty food after a long days walk.

Macs Adventure offer 9 different itineraries to suit the route and daily mileages you wish to undertake along Hadrian's Wall. Depending on which itinerary you choose you will almost always find a local pub nearby to try out! One of my all-time favourite pubs along this route is the Twice Brewed Inn (also known as the Twicey!) which is on the route at Once Brewed. They have a wonderful selection of beers from local breweries to test out and the locals are very entertaining & friendly! The local breweries they work with are Allendale, Cullercoats and Houston Breweries to name a few.

The pub is also known for accommodating the actors and film crew from the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves film back in 1991. They were filming a scene just near Steel Rigg at Sycamore Gap which a lot of visitors like to check out and recreate.

I often get asked where is a good place to stop for some lunch along this route. The route itself can be quite remote in some sections and so it is best to ask for a packed lunch which accommodation owners can provide or you can stock up at local groceries. If you’re wanting to treat yourself to a cup of tea & some homemade scones or cake I would highly recommend the Greenhead Tea Room! This is located between Once Brewed & Gilisland. Greenhead is just slightly off the route and noted in the guidebook we provide you with. They offer a brilliant selection of local hot and cold beverages and is a great resting point if you’re walking to Brampton or Gilsland.
