New app: Osprey PackSizer
Looking for a new rucksack but not sure which size to buy? There are so many rucksacks to choose from these days across all outdoors activities – including walking, cycling, running, skiing and more – and in a wide range of sizes, so choosing the right one for you can be tricky.
Now Osprey, who make numerous different high quality rucksacks, have come up with a digital solution: The Osprey PackSizer.
This is the world’s first digital pack fitting tool. Osprey has put its pack expertise into an innovative handheld or tablet app that allows you to precisely measure and size your torso. This means you’ll always have the ideal fitting pack.
Using the camera in your device, the Osprey PackSizer™ will measure and match your torso size and gender to your ideal pack size across the entire Osprey range.
Three easy steps to finding the right rucksack size:
1: Take a full-length photo of your body
2: Mark your height on the photo
3: Locate your upper and lower torso points
PackSizer™ also includes step-by-step video tutorials that demonstrate how to use the app. Once your size has been determined, you can view the sizing results of every Osprey pack that ideally fits your body measurements.
PackSizer™ can even send your personal results to you via email if you like.
The app is available in English, German and French. To download the PackSizer™ app visit Osprey Europe
or search “Osprey PackSizer” on the Apple app store or on Google Play.

Five great Osprey rucksacks
I like the Osprey brand. They are smart with their designs and make rucksacks to suit different activities, for men and women and in a range of sizes. Here are five of the best.
Osprey Aura 35: Women’s fit with good ventilation and comfort and a host of features and all wrapped up in two funky colours. Also comes in size 50l.
Osprey Xenith 75
: For longer hiking adventures, the men’s fit Xenith offers comfort and joy despite being larger and packed with a wealth of features. The ventilated back system is particularly good.
Osprey Momentum 30
: Perfect for shorter trips and for the daily commute. The AirScape back system offer stability and great ventilation. There’s also an internal hydration sleeve and a useful LED bike light attachment point.
Osprey Escapist 30: For days when the riding is longer or demands more spare clothes and food. The 30l capacity offers more volume but still doesn’t detract form comfort. This pack also includes the high quality AirScape back system.
Raptor 10 for women
: A different fit to suit different physiques and perfect for running off-road. There’s an integrated three-litre “Hydraulics™ reservoir and plenty of space for a couple of spare layers, energy snacks and all your bits and pieces.
