The perfume is what makes walking in Tuscany in June so special.
The Brooms are blooming along the trails and the scent of jasmine marvels the nights on the terraces. My name is Beppe, and I am one of Macs Adventure's local representatives in Italy, taking care of walkers with my local knowledge and expertise. I like walking Tuscany in June for the flavours: June is the month of fresh peas, the month when tomatoes and zucchini are ripe in the orchards and come straight on your tables and the month when peaches and apricots are tastier.
I like meandering in the "Crete toscane" in June because it is a feast for the eyes as colours are overwhelming; the hills that in early June resemble a dense sea of all the shades of green, towards the end of the month turn to pure gold and the fat heads of the sunflowers cover the fields while poppies are all over. Also, I like to listen to the music of the many festivals that we encounter in the small towns and to mingle with the colourful crowd in medieval costumes strolling among the stands of spicy food.
Let me tell you of when, with friends in Maremma, we got lost in a field of poppies and had to go over a steep hill to come in view of the sea where we finally took a refreshing dip. Of course, June is the best month for swimming in the Mediterranean!
