Peace of Mind Guarantee Booking Conditions Addendum
The following terms and conditions (“Terms”) are supplementary to Macs Adventure’s Booking Conditions and amend the Booking Conditions. When you make a booking with us, these Terms and the main Booking Conditions form the basis of your contract with Macs Adventure Limited, registered address: Unit 500,103 Byres Road, Glasgow, G11 5HW, United Kingdom. Company no SC356084.
The following terms will only apply to bookings made on or after April 1st 2022. Where there is a conflict between the Terms contained within and our Booking Conditions, these Terms will prevail:
1. Cancellation by you (Amendment to Clause 10 of our Booking Conditions)
Up to 6 weeks prior to departure: if you wish to cancel your booking for any reason in circumstances where you are liable to pay the cancellation charges set out in Clause 10 of our Booking Conditions, you have the following options:
1. Change to an alternative trip
2. Postpone your trip to a later date
3. Cancel and pay standard cancellation charges as set out in Clause 10 of our Booking Conditions
In the instance of a) and b) we will charge an administrative fee of £50pp ($75pp USD), plus any increase in the cost of the trip.
The above options exclude Bike and Boat trips and adventure bookings in the following countries: Peru, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand. Any changes or cancellations to these trips will be subject to the amendment or cancellation charges in our Booking Conditions and any refund offered will be less any non-refundable costs, which will be detailed in your confirmation.
If you choose to change to an alternative trip we will refund any price difference where the alternative is of a lower value. You will be liable to pay any additional cost if the alternative is of a higher value.
How to cancel: You must notify us of your cancellation and the reason via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Any cancellation will only be effective when we receive it in writing via email. If you choose to change to an alternative trip or postpone to a later date, a binding contract will come into existence between you and us as soon as we have issued you with a new booking confirmation detailing your new trip or updated travel date.
2. Cancellation by us due to COVID-19 related reasons
We will determine COVID-19 related reasons at our absolute discretion but reasons may include any of the following if these scenarios affect the travel arrangements you have booked with us before departure:
a) If the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (or the equivalent governing body of your country of origin) advise against travel (including non-essential travel) to your destination. Including any national and/or local authorities that advise against travel within the United Kingdom;
b) If your residence's national and/or local authority passes laws or imposes restrictions that prevent you from travelling to the destination. E.g. the implementation of a local lockdown.
c) If you are required to quarantine upon arrival to your destination, due to the laws and regulations of the relevant government in that country and/or the relevant national or local authority;
d) If you are required to quarantine upon return from the resort destination, due to the laws and regulations of the relevant government of your country of origin and/or the relevant national or local authority;
e) If the destination you are travelling to has closed its borders or is otherwise denying entry to visitors;
Should any of these reasons prevail, you will have the following options:
1. Change to an alternative trip
2. Postpone to a later date
3. Receive a full refund from us within 28 days of cancellation
Please note our Peace of Mind guarantee does NOT cover the following circumstances:
a) If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 before departure and are no longer able to travel;
b) If you have been in contact with someone that has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and you need to self-isolate, preventing you from travelling;
c) If you have been contacted by the NHS Test and Trace (or an equivalent system), preventing you from travelling; or
d) If you are required to quarantine after returning from another destination, preventing you from travelling with us.
We will provide the necessary documentation to claim your travel insurance if any of these instances prevail.
The above options exclude Bike and Boat trips and adventure bookings in Peru, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand. Any changes or cancellations to these trips will be subject to the amendment or cancellation charges in our Booking Conditions. Any refund offered will be less any non-refundable costs detailed in your confirmation.

3. Insurance (Additional Term to Clause 3 of our Booking Conditions)
Adequate travel insurance is a condition of your contract with us. Your policy should cover you for repatriation where necessary, emergency medical expenses abroad, and additional costs of accommodation and/or transport if you need to self-isolate during your trip. Your insurance policy must also include cover for diagnosis with COVID-19 during your holiday or if you have been in contact with someone diagnosed and are now required to self-isolate.
We will not be responsible for any costs.
These Terms do not restrict or limit your rights contained within our Booking Conditions but offer you alternative cancellation options and extended rights if you cancel in accordance with Clause 2 of these Terms.
These Terms Clauses 2 and 3 above will only apply pre-departure. You are not entitled to the benefits of this Refund Policy where you curtail your holiday after departure in circumstances where you have no reasonable cause for complaint about the standard of the accommodation and services provided; please see Clause 8 of our Booking Conditions for further information.
If we become unable to provide a significant proportion of the arrangements you have booked with us after you have departed, we will, if possible, make alternative arrangements for you at no extra charge. Where those alternative arrangements are of a lower standard, we will provide you with an appropriate price reduction.
How to cancel: You must notify us of your cancellation and the reason via email/in writing: email@example.com. Any cancellation will only be effective when we receive it in writing via email.
Important note: If you choose to change to an alternative trip, we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value. You will be liable to pay any additional cost if the alternative is of a higher value.
