Covid-19 Customer Guidelines

This document outlines the appropriate guidelines and gives you a general understanding of how our partners will handle day-to-day protocols that have been put in place.

These will require flexibility on the part of you, our customers, and it is therefore imperative that you download and read this information before setting off on your trip.

Latest UK Covid-19 Restrictions

07th October 2020

New restrictions have come into effect in Scotland. These mostly impact the Hospitality industry, but do not affect the ability to travel on any of our walking or cycling itineraries.

The measures are intended to be in force for 16 days, from Friday 9 October at 6pm to Sunday 25 October inclusive. With the exception of five health board areas in the Central Belt, pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes will be able to operate indoors on a restricted basis only. Full detail can be found on the Scottish Government Website.

We are in the process of highlighting and making minor changes to any individual booking which may be affected, for example if it is likely no evening meal will be available, we are amending itineraries to enable all our travellers to relax and enjoy their trip. If you have any concerns about your trip, or are considering a walking or cycling break in Scotland, please do contact the team for more advice on hello@macsadventure.com.

ADVICE & RESOURCES

We closely monitor and follow Government travel advice via the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).  Our decision-making for customer travel will directly reflect both the FCO Advisory Levels, and any change in UK Government advice will also change our approach.

We also closely monitor the World Health Organization (WHO) for information on Coronavirus itself, the global situation and tips for prevention. By staying in regular contact with our partners on the ground, we have access to up to date local insight and relevant details pertaining to Macs trips.

Macs Adventure are committed to the Adventure Travel Trade Association's best practices for operating during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

    Walking the Thames Path:

I enjoyed the trip very much and was glad to get away after being in lockdown for so long!  In all the places I went too, people were observing Covid rules, and it didn’t feel onerous at all.  I can’t fault the accommodation at all.  I was very comfortable in all of the places I stayed.

    Walking the Northumberland Coast Path:

We found the booking team that helped organise the trip helpful and responsive to the changing COVID environment. Many thanks for this. The accommodations seemed to have adjusted very well to COVID rules with appropriate social distancing and other controlled interactions.

    Walking the West Highland Way

"My compliments to the team - The whole trip (thus far) has been great and very well planned. We were very impressed to bump into Cara (testing the course) on the first and second days. That told us a lot about the lengths you go to in ensuring customers get the correct information."

Over on our Facebook Community (which you are welcome to join), our customer David Arthur Stott has shared some fantastic updates from his August Pennine Way adventure.

"Left the Three Peaks behind and entered Upper Wensleydale. As I came down into Hawes I could see tomorrow’s path winding up onto Great Shunner Fell. Lovely room in ‘Goats and Oats’ B+B at Garsdale ..... there’s even a pub next door!!"
