Walk of the Week: Scottish Coast to Coast

Our star walk this week is Scottish Coast to Coast. As one of the lesser known walking trails, this trip is perfect for those who want to experience some true Scottish wilderness.

In a Nutshell

Distance: 113 miles Grading: Moderate. This route is not waymarked and some sections follow indistinct trails. Although comprehensive route notes are provided, we would recommend that walkers are confident navigating with a map and compass. WHW2

Where is it?

This route starts in "the Fair City" of Perth on the banks of the River Tay and traverses a diverse range of scenery from dramatic mountains to wild moorland, before joining the final stages of the West Highland Way and finishing up in the "Outdoor Capital of the World" Fort William.

Why walk it?

This route offers an incredible range of scenery, from the tranquil banks of the River Tay, to the gently rolling slopes of Glen Garr, to the beguiling wilderness of Rannoch Moor. The extraordinary contrasts of this coast to coast offer a wonderful adventure, taking you through a variety of Scotland's most beautiful landscapes. This route also offers you the chance to discover delicious locally sourced food, smoky whiskies and the warm hospitality of the Scottish people. HP2
