Best Time to Visit Scandinavia
The best time for hiking in Scandinavia depends on your style of travel.

June to August: Long daylight hours, ideal for hiking in Norway and photography.

May & September to October: Quieter trails, cooler air, and stunning fall colors. September is lovely for Norway, while May & September are ideal for our Sweden Osterlan Way tour.

October to March: While these are the best times to see the Aurora Borealis (aka Northern Lights), we don't offer tours from Nov - April due to harsh weather conditions for hiking. However, if luck is on your side you might be able to experience the Northern Lights at any time of year.

If spotting the Aurora Borealis is on your list, aim for clear nights - away from city lights for the best chance.

Important Travel Notes
- Scandinavia's hiking season is quite short, and Summer is peak season - book your trip as far in advance as possible
- Scandinavia is an ideal destination for a Summer Cool-cation - beat the heat found elsewhere in the Northern Hemisphere with a temperate hiking vacation in our Nordic countries.
- Early season hiking might still encounter snow in higher elevations; it just depends on the weather conditions each year.
