A 6 Day & 5 Night fast paced itinerary which will give you plenty of exercise Stretching between the fishing villages of Padstow and St Ives, this section of the South West Coast Path in Cornwall is one of the best. Smell the crashing Atlantic rollers, taste freshly caught fish and relish the cliff top views on this 61 mile adventure. Tempting beaches, picturesque fishing villages, wild seas crashing and secluded coves are all features of this wonderful walk from Padstow to St Ives along Cornwall’s Atlantic Coast. Padstow has become synonymous with Rick Stein, the TV chef, and is a delightful mix of quaint houses, quays, inns, restaurants and gift shops. Heading south you will discover a collection of quiet villages, estuaries full of fauna and flora and some of the UK’s best beaches. By the time you arrive in St Ives, the most famous of Cornwall’s holiday towns, all you will want to do is turn around and do it all over again. If you love walking, the South West Coast Path should be on your “must do” list and the Atlantic South Coast section from Padstow to St Ives is a real treat. Not only will you enjoy fabulous walking each day but each overnight stop is a highlight. Activity Level & Terrain

This holiday is graded from moderate to strenuous depending on the itinerary you choose. Although you follow the coast quite closely it includes plenty of up and down and some steep sections.You will be walking on a national trail, so the paths are usually well-maintained.

Navigation

The path is well waymarked throughout and we supply a detailed map and guidebook so you shouldn't have any problem following the trail.

When To Go

You can start this trip on any day between April & October subject to availability (in some cases we can book this tour in March - please reach out to your adventure specialist to discuss). This area is very popular so it is best to book far in advance.

Time of Year

We recommend April, May and June when the spring flowers are out and September and October when the summer holidaymakers have gone home. 

Getting to the Start

By Air Newquay Airport is served by Flybe and Air Southwest from UK Airports. The closest international airports are Bristol and the various London airports.

By Rail/Bus—Trains run from London to Bodmin Parkway (3h40) and connect with buses to Padstow. Use Traveline to plan your journey.

By Car—Padstow is a five hour drive from London and long stay parking is available for £2 per day.

Getting from the End

By Bus/Train - Bus to St Erth (15min) and train to London (5h). Returning to Padstow to collect your car is possible by train and bus but will involve a couple of changes. You can find information for travelling to and from Padstow & St Ives by clicking on the Traveline Website. See National Rail for booking trains in advance.

Luggage Transfer

Your bags will be transferred from your accommodation as per your itinerary and moved onto your next overnight accommodation. We ask you to limit your luggage to one bag of up to 20kg per person.

General Information

Please note that due to the G7 Summit taking place in St. Ives on 11-13 June 2021 - this tour is not bookable from early to mid-June.

Equipment

Please be prepared by packing all necessary items, for example, proper rain gear (jacket and pants), sun hat, sunscreen. Your information pack has a detailed equipment list which includes standard walking gear such as good walking boots or shoes, warm and waterproof clothes for the cooler months and lightweight clothing for summer, and a day pack.

Travel Insurance

It is a requirement of booking this tour with Macs Adventure that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the activity and emergency evacuation and hospital care.
