Enjoy an island hopping adventure in the Ionian Sea. Walk the quiet trails of rural Corfu, explore the tranquil island idyll of Paxos and wander the narrow streets of Corfu town. Walking on the Greek Islands of Corfu and Paxos means walking in a symphony of green and blue. As you walk on almost forgotten trails between sleepy mountain villages you will discover lush green mountainous islands where the azure blue sea is almost never out of sight. This self-guided walking holiday takes in the highlights of the Corfu Trail, coastal walks along the azure shores of Paxos and , gentle wanders through Corfu Town. Your holiday begins in Corfu in the small former fishing town of Messonghi. Your beach front hotel is the perfect jumping off point for a splendid walk along the Korission Lagoon, which teems with wildlife, and back across the green interior southern Corfu. You then head north through the rural interior along the Corfu Trail to the Old Town of Corfu. The UNESCO world heritage Old Town of Corfu alludes to its glorious past at every corner. A heady maze of streets lined with alfresco cafes, colourful markets, Byzantine churches, fortified castles and venetian architecture will dazzle you. The ferry to the small island of Paxos heralds a change of pace. Deserted white sandy beaches, ancient olive groves, vast vineyards, pretty harbours and rugged coasts are just a few of the reasons Paxos is one of our favourite Greek Islands. You then head back to northern Corfu where you enjoy two fabulous days of walking around the dramatic Pantokrator massif. This is rural Greece at its best; cobbled mule tracks, ancient olive groves, almost deserted villages, delicious local food and an authentic Greek welcome.
