Macs Adventure was founded in 2003 in the living room of my one bedroom flat on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow, Scotland – a stone’s throw from the famed West Highland Way. The idea was simple: we would offer walking tours for active, adventurous individuals in Scotland.
Since then, Macs Adventure has created tens of thousands of self-guided adventures for travelers seeking unique and memorable experiences at locations around the world. With an office in Colorado and operational bases in the UK and Europe, we’re proud of the high level of service, support and value we bring to our customers.
We strongly believe that self-guided is the ultimate way to travel, because it gives you the independence and flexibility to craft a trip that fits your schedule and needs without the hassle of doing it all on your own. We provide detailed route information, bag transfers and lodging, so you can focus on your unique experience, beautiful surroundings and traveling companions.
Building on those first West Highland Way tours, we now offer hiking, walking and biking itineraries along many of the world’s classic routes, including the legendary Inca Trail, the iconic Tour du Mont Blanc and the fabled Camino de Santiago. We offer itineraries along the Danube Cycle Path and Bike & Boat Tours from Amsterdam to Bruges as well as Passau to Budapest. You can meander through centuries-old lanes in the English countryside on one of our Cotswold or Hadrian’s Wall itineraries, or bike through Provence’s beautiful vineyards and quaint towns.
We’ve since outgrown our one-bedroom flat, plus a few intermediate stops, and moved into new headquarters in Glasgow. Due to our steady success, we’ve since opened offices in Saarbrücken, Germany and Boulder, Colorado. As we’ve grown, we’ve stayed true to our humble beginnings: we’re a close-knit team of active, adventurous and fun individuals – now with an international reach to better serve you. We take pride in our customer service, knowledge and expertise, and are passionate about creating adventures that break down barriers, change perspectives and make the world a better place.
We’re eager to share this passion with you. Please contact our dedicated team to discuss your next Macs Adventure!
