Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Palma and overnightFly into Palma Airport, where a private transfer will be waiting to collect you and whisk you to your elegant hotel in the centre of Palma, just a 20 minute ride away. With its ideal location right in the historic centre, you are perfectly placed to enjoy some of the island’s best restaurants and the lively arts and café scene in the evening. We highly recommend a wander round the Mercado Gastronómico San Juan, an indoor market offering a wide variety of fresh produce, meats, seafood, and artisanal products.
Located on a tranquil, shaded street, this sleek boutique hotel is only a short walk away from Plaça Major and the stylish Avenue Sant Jaume III. As well as a wellness area, there is a cocktail bar on site and roof terrace with sundeck and plunge pool, giving great views of the old town and Cathedral.
A full day to explore this vibrant, cosmopolitan city. The impressive Gothic cathedral with its 61 stained-glass windows is well worth a visit. Then perhaps take a stroll down the shaded Passeig del Born with its elegant shops and restaurants. Enjoy wandering through the vibrant lanes of the old quarter with its quirky medieval architecture. Or take a trip just outside the city centre to Fundació Miró Mallorca, to view some of the abstract designs by famous artist Joan Miró. In the evening, you may like to have a walk along the Paseo Marítimo, looking on to the marina, filled with yachts and lined with restaurants.

After a short private transfer through the Mallorcan countryside, arrive at your home for the next four nights, a beautiful finca just outside Soller, nestled between the mountains and the sea. It is hard not to immediately fall in love with this wonderful region, known as the "Valley of Oranges".
We highly recommend relaxing at your hotel this afternoon, perhaps sipping a cocktail by the pool, accompanied by spectacular views and just the sound of goat bells from the surrounding orchards. Later on, your hotel can phone a taxi for a quick trip down to the town of Soller (10 minutes). Visit Plaza de la Constitución, the lively main square lined with bars and cafes. If you are in Soller on a Saturday, the local market takes place and the square really comes alive with stalls selling arts, crafts and artisan goods.
Ca's Xorc is a beautiful historical finca which has been very thoughtfully and elegantly converted into a stylish boutique hotel. Surround by orange and lemon groves between the sea and the mountains they offer an attentive service, a gourmet restaurant with its own herb and vegetable garden, and a delightful swimming pool with the most amazing views.
Today you'll walk on an old trade route, now part of Mallorca's long-distance trail, the GR221, from Deia back to Soller. After a short 20 minute private transfer, discover the idyllic town of Deia. With it’s honey-coloured houses, this village has inspired artists and musicians since the 19th century, including the English poet and novelist Robert Graves. Today it is home to many little art galleries and small boutiques. As you have a short and fairly easy walk back to Soller, take some time to enjoy exploring, perhaps visiting the Robert Graves museum, former home to the English war poet.
From Deia, walk on cobbled paths through olive groves back to Soller, with frequent glimpses of the sea. Picturesque fincas and the ubiquitous stone walls of the dry stone path blend seamlessly into the wild beauty of the Serra de Tramuntana. A highlight of the walk is sure to be a stop at Finca Son Mico, a traditional Mallorcan bakery perched high above the valley with the most incredible views. Here, sisters Isabelle and Ines serve up freshly-baked cakes, pies and tarts accompanied by either a glass of refreshing, freshly-squeezed orange juice or a Café con leche. Take your time soaking in the atmosphere as it is just a short walk to your hotel from here.
Later in the afternoon, after some time to freshen up and perhaps a quick dip in the swimming pool, a private transfer will arrive to bring you to Can Piza, a small boutique winery. Relax in the peaceful surroundings of the vineyard and enjoy a 2 hour tasting including 7 different wines and a selection of Mallorcan tapas, before being transferred back to Soller for one last evening in the finca.

Today is a real feast to the senses. Enjoy a lovely loop walk from Soller, taking in some of the surrounding Tramuntana villages. Walk on paths lined by orange trees and olive groves to the tiny little village of Binibassi. Surrounded by the scent of pine trees, continue to Fornalutx, often referred to as one of the prettiest villages in Spain. Have a stroll around its narrow lanes lined with charming stone buildings with red tiled roofs and perhaps enjoy a quick refreshment from one of the cafes lining the central square, Plaça d’España. On your way back in to Soller, a treat awaits you, with an included visit to a local citrus orchard. Ecovinyassa is a tranquil little place with a perfect location surrounded by groves of lemon, orange and olive trees and backed by mountains. On a short self-guided tour, learn about the multitude of citrus fruits that are grown in the "Valley of Oranges" before sampling a typical Mallorcan snack, accompanied by a glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice.

A relatively short walk will reward you with some of the best views on the island today. First is an easy and mostly downhill walk to the Port of Soller with its attractive fishing harbour and large bay. Perhaps enjoy a Café con leche with sea views, before continuing to the Cap Gros lighthouse, which previously controlled the entrance to Port de Sóller. With it's spectacular views of the Mediterranean, the cliffs along the north coast and the mountains that border the valley, it will be hard to tear yourself away from this idyllic spot. When you can eventually do it, walk from here through the Savinar area, which attracts a number of migratory birds and seabirds, to the impressive Muleta Gran, a former defence tower and old olive oil mills, before returning to your hotel in Soller.

A short 30 minute transfer brings you to Valldemossa this morning. After visiting Mallorca in 1867, Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator was so taken by it that he was inspired to create a walking route from this beautiful village. On this final, and more challenging walk, enjoy various spectacular vantage points and an insight into traditional mountain industries, passing several charcoal ovens and lime kilns. The extra effort is well worth it! In the afternoon, take time to explore Valldemossa, which has served as inspiration to artists and composers alike, one of which was Frederic Chopin, who lived there from 1838-39. Visit the Carthusian monastery or enjoy sweet treats such as ’coca de patata’ (a sweet potato cake) from one of the traditional family bakeries.
A final celebratory night awaits you, at the exquisite Hotel Valdemossa. Enjoy a special Tasting Menu which includes 6 different and delicious seasonal dishes - the perfect way to reward your efforts over the past few days walking and finish your Mallorca in Style holiday!
Ascent/Descent: 638m
In this beautiful hotel with just twelve unique rooms, enjoy fabulous views of the Royal Carthusian Monastery and Palma Bay, in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains. In the restaurant and café terrace enjoy lovingly made, exquisite Mediterranean cuisine with international touches. All are prepared using their own and local produce. Relax in the elegant gardens, dip into the refreshing water of the outdoor pool on sunny summer days and perhaps even enjoy a beauty treatment or massage.
An included private transfer will collect you and take you back to Palma Airport for onward travel connections. Or you may like to add on extra nights in Palma at the end of your tour - just speak to our team and they can sort that out for you!

Overall, the walks are easy-moderate, but with one moderate day involving around 640m of ascent and descent (but a highlight you wouldn't want to miss!) It should be noted that the terrain in Mallorca is of a rugged nature and a certain degree of sure-footedness is required.

Islands, Coastal Walking
The minimum age for this tour is: 18 Years
This trip is graded as easy-moderate overall as a couple of the walks are optional, and you are only walking between 6.5 and 14km on each day, with ascents/descents of no more than 315m on three of the four walking days. There is one more difficult walk on Day 7, the Archdukes Pass from Valldemossa, which is graded as moderate, involves around 640m of ascent and descent, and is exposed in sections. However, it is a real highlight for most people! Most of the walks follow cobbled trails and gravel tracks, and you occasionally follow minor roads, with one short section on a busier road between Deia and Soller, where you should take extra care. The paths in Mallorca can be fairly rugged in nature, so we do recommend that you have a certain level of sure-footedness in order to get most enjoyment from the walks.
You will stay in Palma for two nights, Soller for four nights, and Valldemossa for one night. The stylish, boutique-style hotels enroute are one of this tour's highlights. We have carefully selected high quality accommodation and upgraded rooms to give you a wonderful place to relax and unwind "in-style" at the end of a rewarding day of walking or exploring. In Palma, stay in a sleek design hotel housed in a beautiful 18th century mansion in the historic centre. Your hotel in Soller is a beautiful finca, previously an olive oil mill, which has been converted into an elegant hotel boasting spectacular views. And in Valldemossa, relax at the exquisite Hotel Valdemossa, with fabulous views of the Royal Carthusian Monastery, in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains. Full accommodation details can be found in the itinerary. Many of our customers choose to add extra nights as a luxurious treat or to sample more of this beautiful region of Mallorca.
Single Rooms & Solo Walkers
We are happy to accommodate your party with single rooms if requested upon booking although a supplement will apply, but unfortunately this tour is not available to solo walkers. Unfortunately twin rooms are not available in a couple of the hotels, so if you would prefer not to share a double, 2 single rooms must be booked.
Meals and Wine Tasting
Breakfast is included each morning and usually consists of a continental buffet with tea and coffee, fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereals, eggs, citrus jams, and pastries including local speciality Ensaïmada. Of course this should all be washed down with a glass of fresh Soller orange juice!
On Day 6, a wine-tasting is included at a local winery. This includes a tasting of 7 different wines as well as a lovely selection of Mallorcan tapas.
On your last day in Valldemossa, a special 3 course meal including local specialities accompanied by champagne is included - the perfect way to reward your efforts over the past few days walking and finish your Mallorca in Style holiday!
We don't include lunch and dinner on the other days so you are free to choose from the plentiful options. Your trip information pack includes details and recommendations of convenient lunch stops, cafes and restaurants along the way.
A huge part of the pleasure of walking in Mallorca is how well signposted the walks are, making them very easy to follow. Some of the walks will be marked with signposts for the GR221 and others with signs for local paths. However, your trip really will be hassle-free with the use of our Macs Adventure Smartphone App which you can download for use off-line. Simply follow the little blue line (you are the dot) to ensure that you won't get lost. You will never be very far from civilisation and mobile phone networks generally work quite well in Mallorca.
