If you haven't managed to get away to the great outdoors this year, I'm sure you're wondering what it's like to be out and about on the trails. Some things haven't changed; fabulous company, steep hills, good whisky and super hotels are all things we can still look forward to.
"I enjoyed the trip very much and was glad to get away after being in lockdown for so long! In all the places I went to, people were observing Covid rules, and it didn’t feel onerous at all.
I can’t fault the accommodation at all. I was very comfortable in all of the places I stayed."

"The real value add of Macs was sorting a couple of Covid issues. We had a late cancellation of accommodation due to staff infection, but Macs sorted it all out completely behind the scenes, and made what could have been a big problem, no problem at all for us (in fact probably an improvement)."

"This was an incredible way to get away for some sunshine, while seeing some beautiful views. The walks were challenging but not too difficult, and varied enough to be always interesting. The accommodation was all great - the perfect place to relax after a long day's hiking. I was a little bit worried for my first time travelling alone (and the first time out of the country since Covid), but everything went smoothly and I couldn't have asked for a nicer holiday."

"We very much enjoy travelling but during a pandemic choices have been slim. When Portugal opened up to travellers and we ensured that it was as safe as possible to travel there, we booked a hiking trip to this area. The Portuguese people are some of the friendliest in the world. This trip is a relaxed hiking trip, as it has only four days of hiking combined with one day on a train and one day sailing down the Douro. Old part of Porto, in which our hotel was located, is fabulous to enjoy. The train station, Livraria Lello bookstore, tile clad churches and the waterfront are must-sees. Train ride up along the Douro was scenic and relaxing. Four days of hiking were very nice, scenic and interesting passing through vineyards, olive groves and small villages in which we stopped for an espresso. Accommodations at wineries were superb. Then the trip was capped off by a boat trip down the Douro, back to Porto. The great lunch that was served on the boat was well above our expectations. Even in the Covid era the trip went off without a hitch. Good accommodations, luggage transfers, and taxi pickups were perfect."

Walking the Northumberland Coast Path:
We found the booking team that helped organise the trip helpful and responsive to the changing COVID environment. Many thanks for this. The accommodations seemed to have adjusted very well to COVID rules with appropriate social distancing and other controlled interactions.

Tour du Mont Blanc Short Break
"So doing the TMB was one of my ""life goals"", but not something I was actively planning on doing in the near future. However, the covid crisis threw all my plans into disarray and while I wanted to go somewhere in the summer, I didn't want to go to far. I didn't really know anything about MacsAdventures other than they had good reviews on the internet. There was some drama right before I started with putting France on the quarantine list, but the staff were really communicative, easy to get a hold of (every time I called I got through immediately), and they were really professional and kind and sorted all the issues quickly. I would 120% recommend Macs to others, and this trip. This hike was so incredible, I had such an amazing time, from the scenery, to the incredible hiking, to the accommodation, to the food, to the weather, to the people, to the just sheer enjoyment of hiking every day for over 200km. Doing the ""comfort"" hike was a great choice, as I could spend all day hiking, then come to a lovely accommodation (with AMAZING dinners and breakfasts), with a comfy bed and my own bathroom. Check-in and staff at every location was perfect. I would consider myself in decent shape, who liked hiking but didn't do it too regularly (mostly on holiday, as I live somewhere really flat), and had never done a multi-day hike longer than 4 days. My legs were pretty thrashed by the end, but overall it wasn't as difficult as I feared! The information and most importantly the app with offline maps made it really easy and stress free to navigate. (Note: I did this trek solo). To conclude, I am so glad I did this trip with Macs, and am already thinking of booking the Walkers Haute Route with them next summer! I would recommend to anyone."

"My compliments to the team - The whole trip (thus far) has been great and very well planned. We were very impressed to bump into Cara (testing the course) on the first and second days. That told us a lot about the lengths you go to in ensuring customers get the correct information."
