What Makes a Walking Holiday "Easy"?
How We Grade Our Easy Walking Holidays
Not all walking holidays are created equal - and "easy" means something specific to us. Our easy-graded trips are designed around comfortable daily mileage - typically 8 to 14 miles per day - on well-maintained, well-signed paths. There's minimal scrambling, no technical terrain, and the elevation gain is gentle. You'll find plenty of places to stop for a breather, a coffee, or a pint along the way.Our easy walking holidays typically feature:
- Daily distances of 8-14 miles (some shorter stages available)
- Well-marked, well-maintained paths with good footing
- Manageable elevation - no steep or exposed ridges
- Frequent towns and villages en route for rest stops
- Comfortable, handpicked accommodation at the end of each stage
- Luggage transfers between stops on most routes

When's the Best Time for an Easy Walking Holiday in the UK?
Spring (April-June) - Our favourite time for easy walking in the UK. The days are long, the wildflowers are out, the paths are quiet, and the weather is reliably mild. Bluebells in the Cotswolds in May are genuinely worth planning a trip around. Expect some showers - this is Britain - but it's rarely cold.
Summer (July-August) - The most popular time to walk, and for good reason - long daylight hours, warm temperatures, and the full buzz of the British countryside in season. Book early: accommodation on popular routes like the Cotswold Way fills up fast.
Autumn (September-October) - Arguably the most beautiful time to walk, with golden light and turning leaves. Cooler temperatures and quieter paths make September particularly appealing. A great choice if you prefer to have the countryside more to yourself.

Self-Guided vs Guided - What's the Difference?
Self-guided walking holidays (what we do)
You walk independently, at your own pace, on a route we've planned, tested, and mapped for you. Your accommodation is booked, your luggage transfers are arranged, and your route notes and GPS mapping are in the Macs Adventure app. If something goes wrong, our team is a phone call away. You choose your departure date, your pace, and how far you walk each day. Freedom with a safety net.Guided walking holidays
You walk with a group led by a guide, on fixed departure dates, at a pace set by the group. Great if you want company or expert local commentary. Less flexible - and typically more expensive.
