Activity Level & Terrain

With daily distances between 20km-35km this cycling tour is graded easy to moderate. You will be cycling on quiet country lanes, coastal roads and some busier routes closer to towns. Although there are some hills, there is always more than enough time to take plenty of breaks and pedal at your own pace. This tour is well-suited to those who haven’t cycled for a few years or have never taken a cycling holiday but have been back in the saddle for a few months and are looking for a new and active experience. You also have the option of skipping the cycling and relaxing onboard if you prefer.

Please note: On certain departures of the Romantica and San Snova barges there will be both hybrid and mountain bike tours operated parallel to each other on the same boat. Only hybrid tours are bookable through us. There will be two guides on board, one of which will lead the hybrid bike group and the other the mountain bike group. The grading and itinerary remain the same.

This is the case for the following departures in 2021: 24/04 (San Snova), 26/06 (Romantica), 03/07 (Romantica), 17/07 (Romantica), 07/08 (Romantica), 04/09 (San Snova).

This cycling route follows a combination of quiet country and coastal roads and some busier routes closer to towns and villages, so please do be mindful of other road users. Each day there are guided rides that leaves you to enjoy the ride and absorb Croatian life. Should you require assistance, local 24/7 telephone support will also be available throughout your trip.

You will spend each night in your very comfortable cabin onboard of Romantica. Your boat is always docked at night and only sails during the day.

At 32 x 7.6 m, the Romantica was launched in 2007 and is a shapely two-mast motor sailor that combines seafarer romance with the spirit of the age, style, and comfort. One of the most important things for the captain is the smart appearance of his ship. The salon and exterior have upscale facilities with a lot of fine details: the salon tables are decorated with noble intarsia, the corresponding benches are covered with precious, sun yellow leather. The large sundeck on the Romantica offers plenty of space to settle back and enjoy the sun. The 16 guest cabins are spacious and air-conditioned including shower and WC. The bathing platform at the stern enables easy admittance for a swim in the Adriatic Sea.

Croatia Bike & Boat sails on set departures from May to October. June to September are the hottest and busiest months and brim with life and festivals. If you prefer traveling in cooler temperatures, we suggest traveling in April, May or October. Due to the nature of this trip, regardless of the time of year, you’ll never have to stray far to find a quiet cove or picnic spot. Sailing departures are limited so we suggest confirming your plans as soon as possible to secure the sailing date of your choice.

The Croatia Bike & Boat tours require a minimum number of participants for the departure to go ahead. Confirmation happens as soon as the minimum number of participants has been reached. For more information, please speak to one of our team.

Getting to the Start

By Air: Split Airport is only 6km from Trogir Harbour. It’s easy to get a taxi on arrival which should cost around €20. Should you prefer we can arrange transfers on arrival. Split Airport is served by most European and low-cost carriers.

Dubrovnik is 3 to 4-hour drive from Trogir. A private transfer can be booked or alternatively it is possible to take the bus. Tickets can be purchased from the Dubrovnik bus station, details can be accessed here. Please be aware that travel times can vary as the road from Dubrovnik to Spilt passes through the Neum Corridor (a 22 km stretch of road Bosnian coastal territory). We strongly advise allowing for extra travel time as there are often lengthy delays when passing through the Neum Corridor.
